RCM-SP-3026A
Updated Delrin 5.0mm Lower Arm Ball Cups for RC MAKER SP1 and SP1-F.
These ball cups that connect lower suspension arms to hubs and chassis.
Manufactured from Injection Moulded POM Delrin Material. This material is harder and also tuned for a finer tolerance. This removes both play and friction from the lower arms. The Outer diameter and tolerance on these is very slightly different (0.02-0.03mm) to the original 3026, so please take note that the holes in the carbon may need fine adjustment for cars from Batch 1, 2 and also the -2mm Arm Conversions. Holes in future kit batches and -2mm arm conversions will be updated to fit these new 3026A Ball Cups.
****IMPORTANT! Installation Instructions! *****
We suggest applying a small amount of lube to the ball before sliding it into the 3026A, this prevents possible cracking of the material and ensures smooth operation. The safest way to install these is to slide the 3026A into the arm before inserting the ball stud. This supports the material and prevents cracking upon insertion.
After inserting the ball, remove the cup from the arm. Give the cup a light squeeze on both sides with pliers, to ensure free movement of the ball. The ball will now be honed perfectly to the cup for minimum play!
Now when you slide the cup into the arm, you may have some additional binding or play depending on which batch of arms you have. Follow the instructions below to ensure a perfect fit:
Situation 1: If the ball binds in the cup after sliding into the arm, then you will need to remove a very small amount of material from the "square" with a file. It is very sensitive, so make sure you don't do too much at a time. If measuring with callipers, you can make the square 5-97-5.98mm in width on both sides. A perfect fit will be the 3026A and ball and cup sliding into the arm with a small amount of resistance. Once seated, the ball should be free inside the cup. If it isn't, remove some more material and repeat above steps. The ball can also be tight if the cup wasn't crimped with pliers prior to insertion, so ensure you didn't miss that step!
Situation 2: If the ball cup is loose inside the arm and has some play, add a very thin ring of CA around the inner face of the arm cup square and let it dry. After the CA is dry, push the cup and ball into the arm, the cup should be a snug fit inside the arm. If it is still loose, add more coats of CA until its a nice snug fit, and the ball is free inside the cup.
Please note, the above steps are not always required, but depending on when the items on your car were produced, they may need these slight modifications to ensure perfect fitment of the new 3026A parts.
